Second, be wary of dairy. Dairy froths at high temperatures, sometimes right into the aforementioned vent, where it can clog. If you like milk in your oatmeal, as I do, reduce the amount of water and add that much milk at the end.

February 6, 2018 at 9:01 pm I am curious how you calculate the calories. Quinoa approximately triples in size when cooked. So 1 cup will give about 3 cups cooked. And according to cronometer.com (which I discovered lately and is amazing) 1 cup of cooked quinoa is ~222 calories, so 3 cups is ~666 calories. I love you and read all your posts since subscribing 🙂

Keep your hand away from the top of the valve (not above it) so as not to burn yourself when the hot steam erupts. Some people like to turn the valve from a distance, with the help of a tongs or the handle of a wooden spoon. Or consider covering the valve with a dish towel before opening it, which has the added bonus of keeping the steam from spraying all over your kitchen. If you do end up using your hands, do so carefully, approaching the valve from the side rather than the top.

I tried it with the exception that I used Jasmine rice instead of basmati and homemade garam masala because I could not find them on our local grocery stores. I can say that the outcome was delicious and my family loved it!

The Instant Pot works just like a rice cooker – So simple! That made A LOT. There is only the 2 of us. The flavor was great. I just lost a lot of sauce as it cooled. No problem tho, I’ll just add more sauce when I reheat it. I have some tweeks I’ll do next time. But maybe you can help me with it turning out and staying saucy.

I used a lean ground beef /pork blend, still so good, Only thing I did different than the recipe is used spaghettini noodles. A little skinnier than spaghetti. I also increased the time to 10 minutes because my husband can’t eat eldente (sp?). This was by far the easiest and most favourite dish I’ve made so far. I especially like it’s just spices in with the meat sauté and not cutting and chopping. Although I know that we can easily add onions and peppers, but if you pick a good pasta sauce there is no need for that extra work. Everything was done perfect. I don’t know how, or why this works. And my fav part is also that it’s quick release. Really …with pasta? But yup. It worked. Means we could dig right in once the timer finished cooking! Ps … I have a 6 quart and it was perfect!

Smart Multi-Use, Programmable Pressure Cooker Another comment we often get is that the tapioca can sometimes still be visible in very small specks, which is okay. It’s so small and it should be extremely soft after cooking in the Instant Pot, so it’s never interfered with my love of this beef stew. It just looks like part of the gravy. But if that bothers you, just try one of our other tapioca-less methods listed above.

April 5, 2017 at 7:45 am Shares 1K Why they may advise against it is that pressure cookers cook chicken breasts in particular so quickly it is EXTREMELY easy to overcook them ending up with a dry and stringy piece of meat. Either accept that the meal will be cooked almost as soon as it comes to pressure or substitute bone in chicken thighs which take a little longer to cook. But not much.
