If you mean make a poultry dish*, then yes any pressure cooker can. Traffic Some recipes will call for a specific time for natural release, before a manual pressure release. For this, you’ll want to turn off the pot, and wait for the time called for in the recipe has passed. Then, turn the valve to release the rest of the pressure. This allows the food to continue to cook for a little longer than a straight manual release, but without keeping the pot on full pressure for that whole time. It makes for a slightly gentler and slower cooking environment.

You can double or triple this recipe without changing the cooking time. The most I've ever made at one time is 3 cups of quinoa with 6 cups of water, and I wouldn't recommend making much more than that because you don't want to overfill your pressure cooker.

Do you think I could use canned coconut milk for this recipe? Hi Linda, I can’t personally advise on all electric pressure cookers as the Instant Pot is the one I have, but I bet there are some helpful internet resources if you do a search. If your model can’t sauté in the pot itself, I’d do that step on the stove and then transfer for the pressure cooking part. This recipe cooks at high pressure for 20 minutes (noted in the instructions), so if your model has a high pressure setting, that part should be the same in theory!

One article said that Instant Pot said 1 cup, then their technical person revised down to 1/2 cup as we are not cooking soups all the time and for this chicken, you don’t want it to be too watery. Then someone said that Instant revised it to 1 cup again for all models. I have made this many times and with no problem. It pressurize well and the chicken is great. You can double the sauce and then reduce it down with saute.

Dating to the 17th century, the first pressurized cooking pot was developed by the French physicist Denis Papin. Basically a pot with a tight-sealing lid and a steam valve, a pressure cooker traps the steam rising from the boiling liquid in the pot, which, in turn, raises the temperature at which that liquid boils. (For example, without pressure, water at sea level boils at 212 degrees. Under pressure, that temperature can rise to as much as 266 degrees.) The higher temperature, combined with the pressure in the pot that forces the hot steam into the ingredients, cooks food much faster than traditional methods.

I received as a gift. It takes the place of several appliances. Great for soups, stews, roast beef, egg bites, easy to peel hard boiled eggs. If you are debating between this model and the Duo - the main differences are yogurt function and high and low pressure. This model does not have the condensation cup or the ability to hang the lid on the side. I don’t miss any of those. 6 qt size is perfect for most families. Once you purchase the Instant Pot there are recipes on Pinterest, Facebook groups and also some great cookbooks. The one that is recommended is very good. There are many brands of pressure cookers but this is the Gold standard. Many prefer the Instant Pot brand due to the stainless steel inner pot. It is a lifesaver when you forgot to plan for dinner because you can even cook from frozen. You do need to allow time to get up to pressure, actual cooking time, and time for pressure release. I recommend you get an additional sealing ring and use one for savory, one for sweet. Did I mention that it makes the best cheesecake?

I post my sponge pudding plan on the Facebook page and I’m halfway through mixing the ingredients when I catch sight of a comment that says pot-in-pot cooking (or PIP, as it’s known in Instant Pot language) is very ambitious and usually attempted only after a year’s experience. In the event, the breadcrumb/syrup mix sticks to the bottom of the basin, but I scrape it out and smear it on the top and photograph my pudding on my best tea plate. It looks broadly OK, so I get started on the casserole.
